Gaura lindheimeri 'Whiskers Deep Rose'/ Butterfly Gaura, Wand Flower

This selection is a compact new cultivar of the North American wildflower that is  highly valued for its long bloom display. It has loose sprays of large, deep rose-pink flowers with contrasting white stamens that appear like whiskers. In the breeze these move constantly, looking like a cloud of small butterflies. Add to all that showy burgundy foliage and you have an absolute stunner in the garden.  Although Gaura may not always winter reliably, plants flower for the entire summer and fall, so consider using it even as an annual in colder winter regions. Excellent in containers, and for cutting. Plants must have excellent drainage and leave standing over the winter months to improve its cold hardiness.
