Sempervivum arachnoideum 'Clarchin', known as Woolly Cobweb Hens and Chicks, creates a dense mat of fleshy leaves with small offsets radiating from the central mother rosette. This variety features medium-sized green rosettes tinged with pink and densely covered in fine, silvery webbing. In summer, delicate pastel-colored flower spikes emerge. Propagation is straightforward—simply separate the offsets and replant them. Once flowering concludes, the mother rosette naturally dies back, allowing space for the chicks; it can be removed easily by gently pulling at the flower stem base. Use in rock and crevice gardens, containers or mass as a small grouncover.
