Most gardeners’ are familiar with veronicas such as, Veronica spicatas, ‘Red Fox’, ‘Icicle’, and ‘Sunny Border Blue’; high water-use Veronicas. But consider the low water-use option, Veronica incana. Silver Speedwell produces beautiful silver foilage (so you know it's xeric) and royal blue spires in summer. Deadhead to prolong the blooms and water deeply once a month, once established in well-drained soil.
Silver Speedwell is a plant that is quite adaptable to a variety of conditions and situations. Use in rock gardens, mixed flower beds or as an edging or mat forming ground cover plant, even in a container.
It is a honey-bee food plant, attracts butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.
